Hello There.

I'm Joey Serxner, and I'm a creative, copywriter, and a whole bunch of other things.

If you’re on this page, then it’s safe to say that you’re not looking for more descriptions of accolades or projects…because that’s what the rest of this site is about.

Here are a few things about me that don’t come across in witty copy lines, case videos, and ad concepts.

My soft skills:

  • I talk loudly and laugh louder. In any working environment, I’m a known quantity, most of the time for the better.

  • I really care about people. I’m not a brilliant asshole. I’ve worked with enough of them to realize that it’s not my vibe. I’d like to think some of my work is brilliant, but at the end of the day, the health and wellbeing of my team and colleagues always come first.

  • Culture matters to me. Wherever I work, it’s important that the environment is inclusive, supports failure, and lifts others up.

My LIFE SKILLS

  • I’ve had a lot of weird jobs. Before I found my true calling, here are some other callings I tried: Frisbee Golf Instructor, Camp Counselor, Ranch hand in Montana, English Teacher in Southeast Asia, Oxygen Salesman, Window Washer, Tuxedo-Clad Caterer, and more.

    • I didn’t go to ad school. It’s a blessing and curse in this field. It’s a curse sometimes because I don’t have the accolades of Young Lions and I didn’t have the conceptual formula of “Insight + Idea + Execution” hammered into my brain early on.

    • But maybe that’s my superpower? Because I didn’t take the traditional agency career route, my unique approach has allowed me to succeed in a variety of situations.

      • Difficult clients? I was a camp counselor and school teacher. Try managing 40 difficult clients simultaneously, 6 of whom have to pee.

      • I literally sold oxygen. That means a lot of sales and even more rejection.

      • Client services is just like washing windows except I’m much less likely to fall off a 40ft ladder.

  • I love cooking. Most of my job is to look at a blank page and create something magical on it. Following a recipe is the exact opposite function for me, and I find it incredibly meditative.

There’s a lot more to me, but let’s save that for when we meet in person.

Cheers.
